A "crown" or also called a "cap" by some is typically a single tooth restoration that takes 2 appointments. The first appointment your tooth is reshaped and an impression is taken. We then send this impression to our laboratory where they fabricate the crown for you. Then in approximately 2 weeks, we have you back to our office and we cement your new crown for you. It's as easy as that!
Why You May Need a Crown!
-Decayed or damaged fillings or a tooth cusp that has broken
-Large cavities or worn fillings that cannot be redone without compromising the tooth structure.
-A Poor fitting crown that needs replacement, maybe has open margins with decay
-A tooth that has had Root Canal Therapy requires a Crown for longevity
-Cosmetically ~ Crowns can give anyone that Hollywood smile they've been waiting for.
BRIDGES
Bridges, also sometimes referred to as a "fixed partial denture", look and feel as natural as your own teeth. We follow the same steps for bridge preparation as the crown preparation listed above. A bridge takes two appointments, typically scheduled two weeks apart. A bridge is a great option for tooth replacement, especially if the two "anchoring" teeth are destined for future crowns.
